Platform comparison
Salstead vs Birdie, Nourish, PCS, Access & TagCare
The incumbents digitised the care plan and earned NHS assurance. Salstead runs the whole service: records plus staffing, gap-filling, video, meetings and finance on one secure platform, architected to the same NHS DSCR standards, with assurance in progress.
How to read this. The Salstead column reflects what is built and running today. Competitor columns reflect each vendor's public positioning (websites, the NHS DSCR assured-solutions list, brochures) as of July 2026 and can change; treat them as directional, not a certified audit. The honest read
Where the incumbents lead today
Birdie, Nourish, PCS, Access and TagCare are all on the NHS DSCR assured-solutions list, with appointed Clinical Safety Officers, live DSPT and GP Connect, plus years of scale and references. Salstead has the architecture and evidence prepared, but the listing, the clinical-safety appointment and NHS onboarding are the steps still outstanding.
Where Salstead wins
One platform doing what the others sell as five: care records plus a staffing marketplace, agency gap-filling, video with transcription, meetings, complaints, assets, invoicing and own-staff payroll (run alongside the marketplace, RTI-ready), all on a single data model with a published security posture (row-level security and AES-256-GCM encryption). Birdie and TagCare are primarily home-care products; against them Salstead's residential and operations breadth is the sharpest contrast.
Positioning, honestly: Salstead is architected to the NHS DSCR standards with assurance in progress. It is not yet on the assured-solutions list, and we don't claim to be. See how we're built to the standards.
